Hope mine comes tomorrow! I like the style of that knife and its blade; the handle scales are probably gorgeous too.... just saying the words of the handle scales is very inviting.

A.G. Russell Knives It's Law! The President signed the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2892) for FY 2010 late Wednesday (Oct. 28, 2009) that includes a permanent "fix" so that any folding knife with a bias toward closure cannot be declared a switchblade by U.S. Customs.

Whoo Hoo! I liked it. The more the issue is in front of the public, the more regular people will understand why it was important to protect our right to own folders. Thanks again A.G and Goldie Russell!

William Jackson Oliver IV A. G., I thought that the bill had dropped assisted openers and other one hand openers, that weren't push button automatics.

No, that was the whole point to the CBP proposal. They want to take our knives. They wanted to re-define the Switchblade Act of 1958 to say that any knife that could be opened one handed regardless of how it was made. If you could open the knife with one hand, they wanted to call it a swtichblade even if it didn't have a button or some type of ... Read Morespring or torsion bar. AKTI with the help of the knife community, NRA, and knife owners, has gotten the our amendment to the Switchblade Act, which is an exclusion for one hand opening knives that do not have a button opening mechanism or have a bias toward opening, to the President's desk to hopefully be signed into law.

Customs was against us at first, but now they are supporting us due to the outpouring of letters and calls they got from knife owners who feared losing their knives and from the knife community who feared a substantial hit to the sporting knife industry.

A.G. Russell Knives The U. S. Senate's Solution to Customs' proposal to ban assisted-opening, one-hand-opening and other folding knives has passed in both the House and the Senate. Next step - the President's desk!

Thank you for all of your support, but the credit doesn't belong to us alone. We couldn't have gotten this far without the help of AKTI, NRA, the knife community and from knife owners like you. The bill is off to the President's desk where it will hopefully be signed into law very soon. Only then will it be official.

David J. Ware

David J. Ware Hi Mr. Russell,
In the process of creating a new blade , this one is experimental as I am using 3 mm flat bar stock 1080 and aluminium for the butt and the guard with white tail antler as the handle. This will be be a bushcraft knife, the blade being 7 1/2" and handle 5". What is your opinion about using aluminium in knife making?
