The Wellness Committee invites the Allegheny College community to "Jam the Gym" for the women's basketball game vs. Hiram on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The first 100 fans receive coupons for free popcorn, and prizes like T-shirts, gift cards to Giant Eagle, free pizza from Vocelli, and an iPod Nano will be given away throughout the game. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Award-winning poet Henri Cole will read from his work at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5 in Quigley Auditorium. The program is part of the Single Voice Reading Series. Cole has published six collections of poetry, including “Middle Earth,” which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. He has received many awards for his work, including the Kingsley Tufts Award, the Rome Prize, the Berlin Prize and a Guggenheim Fellowship. His new collection, “Blackbird and Wolf,” was published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux last year. He teaches in the MFA program at Ohio State University.

Winterfest will be celebrated from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24. Come watch live ice sculpting behind the Tippie Alumni Center as an eight-foot-tall alligator is carved from blocks of ice. A snowman-building contest will be held in front of the Campus Center with prizes for the winners. Free food and hot drinks – and free beanie hats!
