Allure magazine Big, big news in the beauty world this morning and it's from Estée Lauder again: They just named makeup artist Tom Pecheux (that's him above) as the brand's creative makeup director. What does that mean, exactly?...

Shelley--I agree wholeheartedly! Many of the looks just do not translate off the runway. Fantasy has its place, but wearability MUST be factored in for the consumer. We're shilling out the money for the products, after all. Give us something chic we can use daily, not Halloween makeup all the time!

Allure magazine L'Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray has been a favorite of hairstylists for almost 50 years, inspiring such devotion that the pros used to smuggle dozens of cans in their luggage when returning from trips to Europe. Last year, the miracle mist finally landed on American shores, when it exclusively became available at Target. And now, we're happy to report....

Allure magazine We were in the elevator last month, minding our business, when the woman next to us suddenly spasmed into a massive coughing and sneezing frenzy. With no place to turn, we began to fear the worst. Sniffles? The Swine? The end of the world as we know it?...

Bacteria-caused diseases are mutating out of control due to overuse of antibiotics & possibly overuse of stuff like purell! So don't *demand* an antibiotic Rx from your doc if he/she doesn't think you need one!

When I used to wait tables I remember vomiting in the bathroom between serving food. They would not let me go home and I was running a high fever. This was in a restaurant where main plates cost $25 to $50 a plate. I would've been angry as a customer to know how ill my waitress was. You'd have no idea how many sick people are handling your food.

Allure magazine We were psyched when we heard that the new animated Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog, will feature the very first African-American princess. But we were even more pumped to learn that said princess (her name is Tiana) is going to have her very own beauty products. That's our kinda girl!...

Those products have animal renderings, cancer-causing chemicals and petroleum products in them...as does Pantene and Suave, I will stick with all-natural products that keep my skin, hair and body healthy! I would never do anything but Arbonne.

When it comes to Brazilian bikini waxes, the debate can get hairy. (Sorry!) Adding to the conversation, a sex advice columnist for The Times of London has sparked outrage for telling a letter writer that she's not with it if she's not without it—pubic hair, that is. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Wurtzel, the author of Bitch and... Prozac Nation, argues in nerve.com's Bare vs. Hair Debate that "we women don't feel entirely female unless we're slaves to beauty."....Read More

Allure magazine Lately, we've seen quite a few TV commercials for unconventional (and sometimes questionable) beauty and weight-loss inventions: Bumpits. The Smooth Away hair removal system. Ab machines that claim to turn your jelly roll into a six pack by shocking you. Our new favorite has to be for the Hollywood Cookie Diet. In the commercial, Santa opens his robe to reveal ripped abs, courtesy of…cookies....

Allure magazine A recent study in the Annals of Behavioral Medicine looked at people's weight in relation to their at-home habits. Two you might expect: people who had lost at least 10 percent of their body weight and had kept it off for five years had more exercise equipment and fewer fatty foods than people who were overweight or obese. But one of the more surprising findings? Weight-loss maintainers also had fewer TVs....

Sorry, not at all smug.
Obesity? A disease? I think that is open to conjecture. I would argue that if you constantly eat too much you are going to end up fat, if you are greedy and eat way too much you are going to end up obese.
That doesn't sound like a disease to me, ask any doctor, the more you eat, the more your stomach stretches and the more food it take to feel full and satisified, just look at the method used to get rid of obesity, some kind of stomach reduction, either by staples or band, if they hadn't eaten so much in the first place and stretched their stomachs so much then they wouldn't need this expensive surgery.
I am surrounded by obese people in Florida and can't go anywhere to eat without looking at someone severely overweight chowing down on plateloads of food, it's discusting.
So obesity? A disease? I beg to differ!!!... Read More

Sephora just released the results of a survey that shows that men pay more attention to their appearance than you may have thought. The survey tracked the top sellers for men in different continents: In China, men prefer creams and lotions by a brand called gf, followed closely by French skincare (namely Clinique and D...ior). French men can't resist the fragrances Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male and Paco Rabanne 1 Million. And American men?...Read More
