Statement of Candidacy: We have reached a turning point in the direction of our Party. An opportunity to redefine where we stand on a number of policy areas, and emphasise where our priorities lie. Future decisions will see the NPF as a key player, however it...s success will require the involvement of the grassroots members. It is for that reason I see it a necessity for all members that are elected to the NPF to serve as representatives. I believe every NPF representative must not only have the ability to voice a coherent argument, but also be able to listen. My positions as Chair of Hull and East Yorkshire Young Labour, as well as Youth Officer for my CLP, have provided experience from which to do this. In order to act as a representative for the region, I would establish frequent policy forums. This would allow young members to voice their opinions and finally become the owners of their Party’s policy. Furthermore, in order to make this effective, I would strengthen the youth infrastructure across Yorkshire and Humber. The introduction of OMOV brought a new wave of democracy to the NPF, however that should only be the start. Overall I will aim to make the NPF more transparent, accountable and also approachable. Young members must feel more empowered to have an input in policy discussion. So if you believe that we must embrace our pluralist roots and restore members to the heart of policy discussion, then join me in making that a reality. I hope you will also support my fellow Grassroots Alliance colleagues: George McManus, Alex Sobel, Lorraine Ferris and Nikki Sharpe. - Jack Falkingham Membership Number: L0112495 Beverley and Holderness CLP
