Anchor Community Church Happy New Year!

Anchor Community Church Today is the end of 2009, but it's only the seventh day of Christmas! Here's some thoughts from the sermon on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, preparation for this year's Christmas season, a reminder that Christmas is about making peace, about becoming peace-makers.

Anchor Community Church Did you know that in the original language of the gospel story, Christ is spelled Xristos? Through the many centuries, X has been a symbol for the name of Christ. This is where the term "Xmas" came from! You still can't take Christ out of Christmas!

On December 20, we opened presents given to Anchor. During December, people select ornaments from a tree in the lobby, each of which contains the name of a small item that Anchor uses--paper towels, dish soap, coffee, Kleenex, etc. They wrap up the gifts, and then we open them all together.
The children pass the gifts o...ut to adults in the congregation, who unwrap them. Then the kids bring the gifts back to the front. It's always a festive time for the church.
