Anchor Community Church Today is the end of 2009, but it's only the seventh day of Christmas! Here's some thoughts from the sermon on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, preparation for this year's Christmas season, a reminder that Christmas is about making peace, about becoming peace-makers.

Anchor Community Church Jamil and Amy Saleh left for Indy right after church today, wearing their Colts jerseys. They had tickets to the Colts-Jets game, with tickets behind the Jets bench. Lucky dudes! (Amy is Tara Hallman's sister.)

Anchor Community Church Did you know that in the original language of the gospel story, Christ is spelled Xristos? Through the many centuries, X has been a symbol for the name of Christ. This is where the term "Xmas" came from! You still can't take Christ out of Christmas!

Steve Dennie

Steve Dennie  Had a great day in church. Three special Christmas features: passing out cards, the children's program, and unwrapping gifts for Anchor. I posted gobs of photos on the Anchor Community Church page. I also wrote about it on my blog.

This morning, December 20, the congregation opened gifts for Anchor Community Church. We put a Christmas tree in the foyer with ornaments containing a gift idea for the church--paper towels, Kleenex, dish soap, coffee, toilet paper, staples, cleaning supplies, trash bags, reams of paper, etc. ...

Anchor Community Church On December 20, we distributed Christmas cards to everyone in the congregation. People sign and address their own cards, then we hand them out all at once.

Anchor Community Church Tara Hallman led a fun Christmas program featuring the children plus selected adults, who filled key roles such as the angel, Mary, Joseph, the innkeeper, and sheep.

Anchor Community Church

Anchor Community Church On December 20, we opened presents given to Anchor. During December, people select ornaments from a tree in the lobby, each of which contains the name of a small item that Anchor uses--paper towels, dish soap, coffee, Kleenex, etc. They wrap up the gifts, and then we open them all together.

The children pass the gifts o...ut to adults in the congregation, who unwrap them. Then the kids bring the gifts back to the front. It's always a festive time for the church.
