I got the sign on screen, but the only option was to get a new email address; and sometimes, after flashing for several minutes, it said you can't do that right now, please try again (sign in that is). After waiting a day to see if it was just a glitch of the new bells and whistles, I did, however, go through that whole list of what to do if you ... See Morecan't get your mail, and after clearing all my history (and of course, thus any personalization of other web sites) I did get back on. I appreciate your response, I was afraid this was just a place to vent. I still suspect it had to do with the new and pretty screen, and I wish AOL and other sites (like Facebook) would just let well enough alone and stop "improving" things.
