The App Store currently contains tons of separate comics and comic book readers, but few can really compare to Comics by comiXology. The app has hundreds of comics available for download and 50 more have just been added to the list for you to check out.

Comics features an easy to navigate interface that allows you to search for a specific comic or browse by genre, creator, publisher, or rating. The app is able to store as many comics as your device can handle, which means you won’t have to go searching around through multiple pages to find the comic you desire. The app also features comiXology’s patent pending “Guided View,” which is able to view comics panel by panel, dynamically masking the rest of the page. You can also choose to view entire pages just as the writer intended. Other features include a local comic book shop finder and a disk usage tracker/allocator.

Comics is available in the App Store for $.99. For that price you get 40 free comics and the ability to download tons more at prices ranging from $.99 to $1.99. The developers have stated that they intend to add new comics weekly, so you shouldn’t ever run out of content. You can view all of the available comics at comiXology’s website, and the new ones are contained within the first three pages.

Gameloft has just announced a licensing agreement with Fox Mobile Entertainment to develop, publish, and distribute the mobile game based on James Cameron’s highly anticipated Avatar.

“With a riveting storyline and compelling characterization, Avatar: the Mobile Game will raise the bar for the mobile game user experience,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice-president, Gameloft. “Gameloft’s expertise in movie-based games, promises the Avatar mobile game will have tremendous appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers alike.”

Avatar: The Mobile Game will be available worldwide on all mobile platforms right around the time the film is released on December 18th. I was able to confirm with Gameloft’s Carmen Pearson that the iPhone and iPod touch version of the game will be “larger and more feature-rich due to its capabilities,” which should hopefully put to rest any fears you may have had about a measly port of a mobile game.

If you haven’t seen the official Avatar filmtrailer yet in all of its blue glory, I recommend checking it out on Apple’s website.

EA Mobile has just postedthe very first Madden 10 for iPhone and iPod touch screenshots on their Facebook page.

UPDATE: EA has just posted details for the game, which are included directly below.

THE #1 SELLING FOOTBALL GAME OF ALL TIME IS ABOUT TO HIT THE APP STORE. GAME ON.

ACCEPT NO IMITATIONS - only EA SPORTS™ delivers the most authentic, hard-hitting experience in football, and we’ve got the history to back it up.

Combining the realistic action that Madden NFL fans expect with the mobile gameplay that allows anyone to pick-up and play - Madden NFL 10 brings the ultimate football experience to the App Store.

  • TAKE IT TO THE GRIDIRON - Dominate the field with packed rosters of your favorite NFL players from all 32 licensed teams.
  • THE REAL DEAL - From Lambeau to Heinz, you’ll be impressed by the detail throughout this game. Play in authentic stadiums against life-like players on real NFL teams.
  • CREATE YOUR OWN PLAY - Use touch controls to draw hot routes for passing plays, exclusive to Madden NFL 10.
  • ACTION CONTROL TIME - This cool feature lets you adjust the speed of your game whenever you want, giving you time to pick the best moves for each play.
  • SEASON MODE - Play a quick one-off game, or try the robust season mode, which features in-depth trades, stats and individual player rewards.
  • ASSEMBLE YOUR OWN TEAMS - Detailed roster management gives you full control over depth charts, cross-team trading, and access to huge free agent pools.
  • BROADCAST COMMENTARY - Hear the unmistakable voice of John Madden himself along with legendary announcers Tom Hammond and Cris Collinsworth.

The three screenshots not only show off the game’s graphics, but also the button layout for the quarterback and running back. As the quarterback, at least judging from the screenshots, you will be able to pass by touching a receiver, throw away the ball, toggle run/pass, and what appears to be the ability to slow down the game. As the running back, you will be able to juke left or right, boost, spin, plow through opponents, and once again, slow down the game.

These are simply my observations of what the buttons may do. After taking a look at the screenshots, tell us what you think. We will do our best to get some answers from EA.

EA has yet to release any more details regarding the game, including price, release date, and features.
