About Feed the Pig
What is Feed the Pig?
Feed the Pig is a website (www.feedthepig.org), a Facebook application, and an iGoogle Widget that all help you identify where you can make changes that will reduce your debt and/or grow your savings.
All this great stuff is part of a national campaign sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and The Advertising Council. The goal of the campaign is to encourage and help Americans aged 25 to 34 to take control of their personal finances.
What Does the Feed the Pig Application Do?
This application works with a profile you set up on www.feedthepig/messave. There, you customize your spending habits and set savings goals. Once this application is then added to your profile, you can see the amount of money you are committing to save grow as if you were banking this money in real life. The amount will be updated each time you confirm your habits so you can see how fast your savings, combined with compound interest, will add up.
How Do I get Started?
- Visit www.feedthepig.org/mesave. Find your "Inner Under-Saver," customize your spending habits and set savings goals.
- Once you save your profile, you can add the Feed the Pig Facebook application to your profile. Then you can watch your savings grow as you keep your commitments.
- Go back to www.feedthepig.org to change your habits or goals. Going forward, your adjusted savings amount will be reflected in your Facebook application.
