American Patchwork & Quilting Tip of the Day: Try using neutral colors like beige or cream in your next quilt. These hues give the eye a place to rest in the midst of color and spread out competing colors.

The last quilt I made had no white or beige areas in it and although I loved the colors separately and in combination, when I put them together in the final design it was just too much....I ended up ripping out sections of several of the blocks and replacing those areas with a white on white fabric. The result was much more appealing and the recipient loved it.

Actually, I prefer to use Mary Ellen's Best Press as it doesn't flake and is so much nicer to use.
