Arizonans For Health Care Freedom Once major players in Washington, D.C., divide up our health and health care decision-making power, particularly the $2.5 trillion in annual spending, they will declare the crisis over and the nation’s health saved. Don’t believe them — just take a look at who wins.

Arizonans For Health Care Freedom What happens in a government-run health care system when the money runs out for the year? Only two things can happen: Either the providers work for free or the patients wait until the new year.

America's entitlements already cost over $51 trillion. The Center for Individual Freedom presents this video illustrating the fundamental problems with the President's plan to reform health care.

Janet Schrock Carney1) I don’t want a government bureaucrat making health care decisions for me and my family. Contrary to what President Obama says, several independent studies show that a public “plan” or “option” will take 114 million people off private insurance and put them on the government plan. I don’t want that to be me!

2) The federal deficit for 2009 is over $1.5 trillion, a historic high. The Congressional Budget Office says that this health care reform plan will add $239 billion to our deficit. Now is not the time for new, increased entitlement spending, now is the time to trim government and make it more efficient.

3) When Medicare was created in 1966, it was projected that it would cost $12 billion in 1990--the actual cost of Medicare in 1990 was $107 billion. There is no doubt this plan will end up costing American taxpayers like me much more than the current estimates.... Read More... Read More

4) Raising my taxes will be the only way to foot the bill for Washington’s out of control spending. This is no time for tax hikes. In the current economy, we should be cutting spending and taxes, not funding massive new programs by raising income taxes.

5) The mandates that this reform plan places on businesses will increase unemployment and lower wages, according to the CBO. Many small businesses are already struggling to make ends meet. With unemployment climbing, in August it was over 9%, government should not be making it even harder for businesses to succeed and hire new employees.

6) Please oppose this bill or any health care bill that takes health decisions out of the hands of patients and doctors and give them to politicians and bureaucrats. Please oppose increased federal spending. And, please do not raise my taxes. Thank you for taking the time to listen to me today.

Arizonans For Health Care Freedom In more than a dozen statehouses across the country, a small but growing group of lawmakers are pressing for state constitutional amendments that would outlaw a crucial element of the health care plans under discussion in Washington: the requirement that everyone buy insurance or pay a penalty.

Mahatma Gandhi said, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” When the NY times runs a front page article about the state sovereignty movement, it tells me the laughter has died down and they are now trying to reassure themselves that this can't really be happening. It's fun to watch them call on their trained academicians to try to discredit nullification :-D

I find the part of the article that says, "Experts [Paul Bender, a professor at Arizona State University's law school is quoted] say federal law likely would trump such state changes." This is non-sense. federal law can only trump state changes if those federal laws are constitutional.

As Michael Boldin of the 10th Amendment Center put it, "..the 10th Amendment Movement is not about asking politicians to follow the Constitution. It’s not about getting permission from the Supreme Court to exercise our rights. It’s not about going to the federal government at all. Those are all failed strategies. This movement is about moving back towards Constitutional governance whether they want us to or not."
