New Jersey Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts said President Obama's success shows the phrase "all men are created equal isn't just words on a document but a living example of the opportunities America can offer." By heeding the president's call to work together and share responsibility the hard work ahead will get done, Roberts said.

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez said President Obama's taking office is inspirational for millions across the nation and world regardless of political affiliation. The senator from New Jersey liked the emphasis on the responsibility, duty and legacy we share as Americans.

Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean said he was happy to hear President Obama say he will embrace what's working in the federal government and eliminate what doesn't. The Republican leader also liked hearing Obama tell terrorists we are united against anyone who threatens our nation.
