Join Pat Feeney (pfeeney@u.washington.edu) in a think-tank session for 60 minutes of discussion about the future of audiology at 12:45 PM on Friday, November 20, immediately following the Audiology Coordinating Committee (ACC) meeting in Convention Center room 270.
Ground rules: a. 8-10 Participants b. All opinions a...re welcome. c. Visualize audiology as it needs to be; then think about the “how.” d. Put aside limitations (finances, other resources, lack of will).
Discussion topics: Audiology can no longer afford to be a “small” profession. Can we increase our productivity by using audiology assistants and automated testing? Can we increase income levels? Can we support the development of larger classes in AuD programs (to increase our intellectual base as well as meet the needs of a growing patient base)? Can we strive for gender balance and more cultural diversity in our profession?

I'm going to be entering the job market soon and would like some information or understanding of how contract, traveling SLP positions work. I've been in the school system and early intervention for 15+years and would like to cross over to a medical emphasis. It was suggested to me that contract work in SNFs or Rehab m...ay provide me with a slower pace than the hospital setting, as well as mentoring to help me improve skills in areas that I haven't used since my CFY. Any info anyone can provide would be super. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Read More

We are conducting a research study investigating the methods that SLPs currently use to assess and diagnose children with
language impairment. We are also interested in SLP views on how childhood
language impairment should be defined. We hope that the res...ults of this study
will aid in the development of new diagnostic measures.

We are looking for SLPs who asses child
language disorders to participate in this study. The study is conducted via an online survey and takes no
more than 30 minutes to complete.
Although we would like to be able to reimburse every participant for
their time, this is not feasible with our budget; however, at the completion of
our study, we will randomly draw the names of two participants to receive a
$100 gift certificate for clinical assessment or treatment materials.
