This year marks Paul Kelly’s 30th anniversary as a solo recording artist. Kelly has crafted a heartfelt catalogue of songs that speak to successive generations. His strength as a songwriter and storyteller has inspired a whole raft of musicians working today. So as the centrepie...ce of our AusMusic Month celebrations this year, we'll be putting on a tribute to Paul Kelly - one of our songwriting greats.
Over two nights at The Forum Theatre in Melbourne, we have invited some of the best Australian artists to interpret Paul Kelly’s songs. The line up will star Missy Higgins, John Butler, Paul Dempsey, Katy Steele, Bob Evans, Ozi Batla, Dan Kelly, Clare Bowditch, Jae Laffer, Adalita, Dan Sultan, Megan Washington plus members of Augie March as the backing band and Ashley Naylor from Even as Musical Director.
Time:8:00PM Saturday, November 14th

are fans of The Blackeyed Susans - http://www.facebook.com/theblackeyedsusa ns
The Blackeyed Susans are a band with style – both musically and sartorially. They formed during 1989 in Perth as a holiday band for members of The Triffids, Chad’s Tree and Martha’s Vineyard. They have existed for 2 decades (on and off) with a floating line-up featur...ing members of The Cruel Sea, The Dirty Three, The Jackson Code, Augie March, The Bad Seeds, Kim Salmon, The Drones and more. Over this time they have been based in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne and have recorded in London and toured throughout the U.S. and Canada. The Susans have released 6 albums and numerous EPs and singles, with two ARIA Awards nominations to their credit. October 2009 saw the release of The Blackeyed Susans’ retrospective 4-disc box set – 'Reveal Yourself 1989-2009'. Available to purchase from http://theblackeyedsusans.bigcartel.com Reviews of the 'Reveal Yourself 1989-2009' box set: ***** 5 stars – Sunday Herald Sun, Melbourne “This box set is essential. I urge anyone who has never heard The Blackeyed Susans before to go out and pick this up.” – The Drum Media, Perth “A fantastic introduction to one of Australia's most darkly lovely and lovable bands. **** 4 stars” – Sunday Mail, Adelaide “Snarski sings with the dulcet tones of a choir boy that barely covers potential menace simmering below the velvet-crooner surface. Album of the week.” – The Advocate, Hobart “This is music of flickering candles, fine whiskey, stained candelabra, op shop jackets and whispered dreams. They personify a sense of style, grace, and romance that’s simply lost to most bands.” - MAG
