Thomais Tsekoura It's horrible in this, the 21st century to subject people to torture, to imprison them because they wanted to achieve democracy for their country and human rights for their people. It's a shame for the "civilised" world to allow for such regimes to exist.

Tereza Cristina
"Never, 'for the sake of peace and quiet,' deny your own experience or convictions. The only kind of dignity which is genuine is that which is not diminished by the indifference of others. Pray that your loneliness may spur you into finding something to live for, great enough to die for. Never measure the height of a mountain until you have reached the top. Then you will see how low it was."
Dag Hammarskjöld

Paola Valeria Jovinelli please please Mr Ban Ki-Moon do something substancial for our strong great Aung San Suu Kyi !!

Mark Reading of Pramoedya Ananta Toer's terrible struggles as a political prisoner in Indonesia in 'The Mute's Soliloquy' only makes me realise how important the struggle for the humanitarian cause around the world is. I hope there will be further sanctions following the refusal of the UN Secretary General's visit to you. The world is on your side. You must be freed.

We must never give up the dream of freedom for all humanity. Aung San Suu Kyi's story is but one of thousands across the globe and it is time that we put this terrible practice to rest once and for all. Humanity as a whole cannot progress, cannot achieve it's full potential as long as we continue to treat each other in this barbaric manner, it is time to set them free.
