For now, I just love to take photos. I have not yet devised my master plan for making myself rich doing so, and perhaps never will. I shoot for the joy of the moments I capture.

Bald Heretic Photography Some of my more popular work has been my experimentation with fake miniatures. Basicially it's a technique where you use Photoshop to simulate the effects of a tilt-shift lens. When done correctly, the subject matter ends up looking like a table top model. Truth be told, it's a cheesy gimmick. But there are some not so... obvious techniques employed to pull it off well. This is a slideshow of my fake miniatures from over the last few years.

Awesome as always Jay. For some reason my attempts have not been nearly as good. Me thinks you should do a tut using one of your images as an example. :D

Bald Heretic Photography One of my most treasured lenses, the Sony SAL-135F18Z. She's 135mm of Carl Zeiss optics goodness shooting a heart stopping f/1.8 This lens practially generates light out of darkness and is a bokeh making machine. I don't use this lens near enough, probably because of the weight and size. I really need to change that. ...Here is a slide show of some of better photos taken with this lens.

Bald Heretic Photography Lots and lots of photographers at this years Via Colori. Trying to find a way to make my pictures stand apart from the avalanche of photos I stumbled upon something. I took this photo of Carlos Hernandez with the sun at his back which made for some interesting highlights and contrast. Then using gradient masks I came up with the final image.

Bruce I like your motto. I mean, life and photography are meant to be fun. Monetizing everything is not always what we need. Have fun!

Bald Heretic Photography My latest 360 degree interactive panorama. This one taken from photos collected at the 2009 Houston Via Colori festival. Challenging in that there were people moving around in the shots. You can see "ghosting" on a at least two sets of legs as patrons walked through the scene.

Interesting challenge trying to put together the components of a panorama with the subjects in motion. This was done at the 2009 Houston Via Colori.

Bald Heretic Photography 360 degree panoramas. Good lord these things are cool! Shot my first hard core 360 using a state of the art Nodal Ninja this past Saturday with Benjamin Giannantonio who showed me the ropes. Be sure and check out the 3D interactive Flash movie I was able to create from the shots used to create the pano.

View On BlackI managed to convince Ben aka Telwink (the master of wide angle) to give me a crash course in the hard core style of panoramic photography. He showed me the ins and outs of the Nodal Ninja and after we covered the basics we went out to the Mekum Fountains for some field work. ...

That is awesome! In the 3D pan version you link to, it looks like you could reach up and pluck leaves off of the trees.

Bald Heretic Photography Just a photo from the archives. This one of the Houston Rockets with a fake tilt-shift affect applied. I was bummed because the Rockets won't let you in with a telephoto lens of any length so I was relegated to wide angles. This was me making the most of the situation.

For my Nikon D90, I've got two of their DX Lenses, a 10mm-24mm & 18mm-200mm --- and they're both the same size until the telephoto is zoomed out. How close do the Rocket arena staff look at the lens that's mounted on your camera (or in your inside coat pocket)? ;-)

They put the lens on a table, extend the zoom and measure the length of the lens. they almost made me leave my 17-50 in the car because of the length, even though the zoom range was not all that.
