The breakfast, a benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, was held at 7:30 am and included a welcome and acknowledgement from Governor Kulongoski; a moving presentation from Little Sisters - and biological sisters - Patience and Annie, brother Thomas, and their Big Sisters Amy and Katie; and a presentat...ion from Lynn Thompson, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, and Jake Nichol, the agency’s Board Chair and CEO of Leatherman Tool Group, Inc.
Emcee Gustav from 94.7 KNRK and a former Little Brother of Big Brothers Big Sisters introduced the theme of the breakfast: the agency’s Adult Little Research which found that involvement in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program is even more life-changing than once assumed. According to the startling results of this recent groundbreaking study conducted by Harris Interactive, adults mentored as children (alumni) through Big Brothers Big Sisters are more likely than peers with similar backgrounds but who were not involved in the program to have a four-year college degree and incomes of $75,000 or more. They also report strong relationships with their spouses, children and friends.
