Could cheaper batteries and Israeli drivers make electric vehicles the norm?

So let me understand this, we put two rovers on Mars that were expected to work 90 days and die. Six years later they are still running on Mars via solar power. All this in an enviroment of -100 degrees at night, directed 180 million miles away. Now you try to tell me we can't make a car travel 100 miles on a single charge? How stupid do you the people of the world are? You won't an electric on this planet until we pump every last drop of oil out of the ground first.....

Hydrogen has no effect? Are you joking?!?! While I personally am all for hydrogen being successful, I can say the hydrofuel cell car on UCF campus most deffinantly has it's impact between production, maintenace, etc. Hydrogen Fuel cell has a number of "wear" parts that need to be replaced regularly all of which have their impacts to the world.

But lets avoid just jumping back into the car A is better then car B, because everyday someone makes a new discovery or pulls new statistics that changes the results, and sadly probably 90% of those stastics on both sides are skewed.

The fact is with our current technology, no matter what car you drive, you're hurting the planet. That's just the way it is. If you live within 5 miles of work, you can get to work faster on a bicycle assuming you are in "reasonable" shape. 10 miles is a reasonable distance to ride to work. (over 10 miles, well at that point I don't blaim you for driving) It's good for you, the planet, the US economy, and society in general for you to ride a bicycle if it's viable for you to do so.... See More

I rode my bicycle to work everyday almost for a year when I worked at the city, sadly until I move I currently have a commute that makes this not an option. I will say it was hard at first to ride, but once I started I felt so much better everyday generally speaking. The only major change for you as a person is your auto repair/fuel costs plummet dramatically and your food bill increases slightly. (you'll be burning a lot more callories so you'll need to adjust your diet)

It’s no big secret that electric vehicles (EVs) have been haunted by the “range problem” for over a century. Answers have eluded the central question of how an EV can be made as convenient as its gasoline-powered ...

It's about time! They better get the price competitive though or they'll mostly decorate showrooms. And no recalls this time, ok?

The best thing you can do is find a few people and put together a group that is interested in EV. From there it will happen.

This is just another facet of the conflict in the Middle East. It's not just about religion or land. It's also a conflict between those who want to elevate the world into the 21st century vs. those who want to degrade it into the 11th century.

The future is here in the "Aptera". Check out their website. It is a very SMART car and very beautiful. The hybrid version runs a gas engine which only keeps the batteries charged. Totally electrically driven.

Look it up. In 1996, Stan Myer seen on YouTube, invented a water electrolysis device that separates Hydrogen from water. He also invented a spark plug that did the electrolysis right at the engine block as the water was being injected. He mysteriously died of food poisoning one day after he signed a contract with the U.S. military to make a 50 ... See MoreMillion dollar test facility into his idea. People ALL over Youtube are doing it. Type "Hydrogen Fuel Cell" in Youtube and see what you get! WE HAVE the technology to run cars on WATER but the U.S. Government and other govs are so up Big Oil's ass, and skimming off HUGE profits into their own pockets for allowing it to continue, they will never allow it happen because it's free energy that they can not profit from. It's no different from the magnetic electric motor that an australian man invented that could power your house for free by magnetics. Good luck ever getting governments to shut down Electric companies that make profits on your electricity OR cars that run on free water fuel. It'll never happen due to greedy corrupt politicians that run our countries. Furthermore, TESLA proved you could get FREE electricity right from the air we breath, in the form of electro magnetic radiation from outer space but the funding stopped because the person funding it said to Tesla, "Where do I put the meter!?" The power is in the masses. If a thousand people got together and produced and sold these things, with instructions how to show a thousand more to do it, we'd overtake the government's control of our energy and produce our own clean energy and once the masses have it, they could not stop it. But one? They always get threatened or die. It is WE the people who have the true power over them and only until people get tired of paying $3.00/gallon to the Saudi's that want to kill us, will it ever stop! Imagine if we got fuel from water and no longer needed gasoline. Can you imagine what the Saudis would do if the world stopped using gasoline? They'd no longer be angry at America, and no longer have a prosperous economy. Before they'd go bankrupt they'd drop the price to cents for a gallon and beg people to come back! WE have the power to do something, the problem is, no one speaks up and does something. And if one does without the masses, that one gets a visit from government black suits and is threatened along with their family to stop their quest or they'll disappear or worse their family will. When ALL band together and put this out with directions how to build your own, then and only then will we see true control over our own futures, a cleaner environment, and a boost in our world's economy because we won't be blowing $300 a month on gasoline and god knows whatever the electric company feels like raising it to next month.

Not sure if money spent is denmark is as smart as Tokyo project. Would consider how US awareness can be exponentially fomented, as gas prices rose again so much in last 12 months........"its backers will have to persuade consumers to move away from the internal-combustion engines that characterized motor vehicles for more than a century, while also... See More winning the support of major automakers...."
Citizens self interest served by 1 minute recharge and complete liberation from inimical oil providers is much more powerful to capitalize on then global warming bogey man.....
Agree with netscape analogy.....lets accelerate the natural history of this change
