Bill Spelman Last quick reminder about today's community office hours: from 3pm-5pm at Texpresso Cafe on Anderson Lane.

When the City passed domestic partner benefits, some of the ramifications were not immediately clear. A specific gap was brought to light when one of the employees from my previous Council term who still worked for the City passed away, leaving his partner ineligible for COBRA benefits...

I like the idea of "holding community office hours" in different parts of the city, on different days, at different hours so that a cross-section of your constituents can try & attend, esp. since Austin's council seats are city-wide and not based on specific districts within the city. Thank you Council Member Spelman from a constituent in North Austin.

Hmm, I was hoping for solution-oriented policing, but I guess this will have to do.

Last Thursday, I had a difficult decision to make on the Grayco/South Shore Planned Unit Development (PUD) request. I had to weigh the public benefit of the proposed development against its potential infringement on our treasured Lady Bird Lake waterfront...

I still think you made the wrong decision, and not what I expected from you or Chris Riley. I stand behind Mayor Leffingwell and Laura Morrison who I think made the right choice. If we can't protect Lady Bird Lake, then we might as well be Houston!

As Bill Spelman prepares to step into the City Council seat he left nine years ago, he sometimes waxes philosophical about the public servant he was then and the one he intends to be now.
