Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio Not exactly. He was happy to sit on the bench, play jumbotron trivia, eat some kettle corn, etc. Next thing you know, its the second period, four goals later on Andrew Raycroft and Robbie "McRib" Luongo is back in the goal...

Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo is back in the Canucks' net after missing two weeks because of a broken rib.

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio yup, I went to a golf game, and a manager meeting broke out. So the trapezoid stays. Not a huge deal since Marty Brodeur will most likely retire at the end of this contract, and this rule was put in place to stop him, right? At least the discussion on head shots has gotten them away from the "ban fighting" thing...

Source: www.tsn.ca
The first day of NHL GM meetings didn't produce many fireworks -- although the group decided to stick with the trapezoid rule that limits where goalies can play the puck behind their net.

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio I have been a supporter of the NHL using their own distribution for live games. Versus is going well, but given the DirecTV issue and needed coverage, who knows how it will look long-term...

Source: www.sportsbusinessjournal.com
One of the reasons the NHL depends on NHL Network for live games, highlights and preview shows is to give its viewers content that is in short supply elsewhere on TV. “As of right now, we think the NHL is not getting its fair representation in the broader world of sports,” Collins said.

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio To be honest, this HOF thing really didnt excite me all that much. However, you cant take away from the fact that this probably had to be one of the most solid HOF classes ever. Serious talent here...

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio Being a fan of pastry, I think they should lose 13 games in a row, to make it a "Bakers Dozen" Paul Maurice is still behind the bench, too huh?

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed veteran goalie Manny Legace to a two-way contract.

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio “They don’t have to agree,” Daly said of the Leafs. “They can be dead-set against it, but that doesn’t mean they can stop the league from putting a franchise here if the league thinks a franchise here makes sense.” -- OOOHHH, OK, I am starting to get it now. Its not whether the competing team has a veto or not, its about who actually OWNS the other team when they want to move it....

Source: www.thehockeynews.com
Because if NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is to be believed, there is no ambiguity anymore over the notion that the Toronto Maple Leafs have any kind of veto over the league if it chooses to expand or relocate another team to the most fertile hockey market on the planet

Can you say 'lip service'? The only way the Leafs will agree to another Toronto team is if they play in the same arena, and they charge the new team some exorbitant rent. If it happens, then I will also feel bad for the Sabres, whose attendance would nosedive.

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio Curtis Glencross of the Flames gets 3 games and forfeits $18K in salary for his hit on Chris Drury on Saturday. We add this to our tracker page. Total financial amount forfeited or fined by players so far for 2009 is roughly $230,685

No, I agree with you. I dont see this hit as suspendable. I am trying to decipher the pattern to suspensions and fines. It seems that the bigger name of the player you hit, the heavier the justice. Additionally, if you are a repeat offender, you get hit worse. If youre a superstar, the penalty is very mild.

Its not really based on the infraction... Read More, as much as the people involved. When suspensions and fines become something subjective, its going to be nothing but inconsistent. I created this tracker to find this pattern...

I appreciate that. It's nice to see what the League is doing. The inconsistency's are already there and we are only 5 weeks into the season example being Artyukhin Slew-Foot vs. Ovechkin Slew-Foot. Kinda ridiculous.

Millian from The BlueLine: Hockey Talk Radio Once again, lending more weight to my theory that the NJ defensive system is what "makes" a goalie. I should win a Nobel Prize for Hockey or at least the cool toy from the Cracker Jack box.

Sounds like goaltender Scott Clemmensen is having a hard time adjusting to the Florida Panthers' system, and is making his frustration well-known. From the Sun-Sentinal (h/t Kukla's Corner):
