      • Brian Agalsoff Very cool. Glad to see this as it gives indies a better chance at getting some funding.

      • Jake Reed This is great! Another awesome idea would be for them to either write a book or set up a website or do consulting

      • Jake Reed I personally would love to talk to Matthew some time, since he seems to be one of the more business minded indie developers.

      • Steve Strickland Awesome. If an indie studio receives funding from another party though, isn't it no longer indie?

      • Alexandre Fonseca That depends on your own definition of indie.

For me, an indie developer is someone who makes a game just for the hell of it, without any external pressure.

There's some discussion on indie identity ramifications at the TIGSource post: http://tigsource.com/articles/2010/03/03/indie-fund

Nice points about indie not necessarily meaning anti-establishment, etc. An important point about defining... indie is the meta-discussion: What do you gain about from defining indie a certain way (ie, why does it matter)?

If "indie" means "control" to you, then the Indie Fund is indeed a very good option to take on funding without diminishing control...

      • Alexandre Fonseca Thanks for the link, even though last time I checked Tigsource's not the best place if you're looking for a good, healthy and reasonable discussion.

      • Steve Strickland Yeah it's hard to read the comments in that post, Adam Atomic is so angry for no reason!

But that picture of Jonathan Blow is hilarious.
