The Bombay Elektrik Projekt
Step back into the decade of counterculture. Mean without meaning to. Chance upon delight, mystery, paradox, and other linguistic revelations as, given free rein. A revival of the community – participate as much or as little as you want. A community where words lead you to broad and unexpected spaces/places.

Mocha Mojo ...and Bombay Elektrik Projekt invites you to an evening tinged with lyricism, where the city's myraid poets gather to read out their best works. Expect an openness to feeling, and texts grounded in the everyday. Expect rhymes your about your grandmother, your sexuality, your roots: expect lines and rhymes that will never leave you. Readings are liable welcome to turn into performances, in the backdrop of guitars, improvised percussion solos, or inspired impromptu writing.

How it works: Poets show up with 3 of their best poems and sign up for three rounds of readings. Sign up with the host of the evening half an hour before the event kicks off.

This time however, we will have two rounds of poetry, and in between, for about 45 minutes or so, we are going to throw the mic open, for solo musicians, traveling artists and people who want that open mic, to come and showcase their stuff and/or express themselves. Sign-up at the same URL below, and tell us what you're going to do!!!!

The Bombay Elektrik Projekt
Bombay Elektrik Projekt in association with UTV World Movies presents a unique marriage of movies (Buena Vista Social Club) and music (The Keys) at Mocha Bar on Tuesday 24th November.

Wim Wender's film about a group of legendary Cuban musicians, some as old as their nineties, who are brought together for one last swanso...ng is as moving a portrait as any. The legendary Ry Cooder records a CD with these legends and we see and hear some of the songs being recorded in Havana.

There is also footage from concerts in Amsterdam and New York City's Carnegie Hall. In addition, many of the individual musicians talk about their lives in Cuba and about how they got started in music.

Following the film, catch the The Keys, a songwriting band with a new sound somewhere between Rock, Punk, Blues and Jazz. With a whole lot of line up hanges and playing different styles of music, The Keys finally arrived at the sound they set out to create.

The band is currently in the process of production for their debut album, writing songs and refurbishing earlier tracks from the band Radius. The line up consists of Rishi on guitars and vocals, Sid on bass and Adhiraj on drums.

The musicians have played on various stages individually and with different bands including Radius, Syncopation, Level-9, SOAP, Artists Unlimited, BLUE_BREAKFAST.

Join us for an absolutely elektrik night.

The Bombay Elektrik Projekt
Bombay Elektrik Projekt in association with UTV World Movies is proud to associate with the gem of a venue that is La Dolce Vita. For our inaugural night in Kolkata, we presents a unique marriage of movies (the swinging Buena Vista Social Club) and music (Five Little Indians) at La Dolce Vita on Wednesday 28th October....

Wim Wender's film about a group of legendary Cuban musicians, some as old as their nineties, who are brought together for one last swansong is as moving a portrait as any.

Following the film, catch Five Little Indians — better known by its acronym FLI — was formed in January 2007. The band merges strong grunge/prog roots with melodic rock, blending a heavier sound with singer-songwriter sensibilities.

The band’s use of Hindustani Classical vocals as another voice — and not as a ‘fusion’ ploy — results in a unique soundscape that can only be defined as its own.

FLI played its debut show at the Eastwind Festival '08 and were featured in The Times of India for its original sound and is now the band in focus for August 2008 on www.indianmusicrevolution.com. The band played the Calcutta leg of the RSJ Pubrockfest '08, taking the stage after Aurora Jane to a full house at Someplace Else. The band recently played at Star Theatre, Calcutta as part of INTERface '08, an inter-disciplinary arts festival featuring artistes from Korea, Singapore, Switzerland and Japan.

In November 2008, FLI's original Screaming At The Sun saw a worldwide release as part of Stupidditties 2, a compilation of Indian "un-metal" music from ennui.BOMB , supported by Counter Culture Records. (The featured space is this: http://www.indiecision.com/page/2/)
2009 has been an eventful year for the band. FLI co-headlined the east zone finals of Campus Rock Idols with Skinny Alley in January.

In May, the band, along with Bertie Da Silva and The Supersonics, organised the first chapter of Elektrik Kool Rock Revue, a platform for all-original music showcased in a series of shows. FLI also opened for French chanson-rockers KWAK and was featured as part Littlei's Friday Night Live series at the Big Ben, The Kenilworth.
As an acoustic trio, the band played a couple of informal coffee shop shows in Kohima and Shillong in August, before heading back to town to play the 2009 edition of the RSJ/Kingfisher Pubrockfest at Someplace Else.

On the roll for Eastwind Festival 2009 at Noida, FLI is working on adding new songs to its current clutch of originals.

FLI comprises:
Neel Adhikari: Vocals/guitars/samples
Allan Ao: Guitars/backing vocals
Arka Das: Drums/percussion/various noise
Sayak Banerjee: Vocals/percussion
Sanket Bhattacharya: Bass/backing vocals
