Its short notice on this event, but the Arboretum has a "Members Only" off-site hike Friday afternoon up Queen Creek Canyon just east of Superior (the canyon you drive up and through if you take highway 60 towards Globe). ASU Prof. Steve Semken will lead the hike and talk about the exposed geology and tectonic forces w...hich created this impressive canyon. Count on a moderately easy hike, but hard hats are required because of the possibility of rockfalls in the canyon. There's no charge, but the walk is limited to 20 -- so call the gift shop and register if you're interested. 520-689-2723 (ask for Chris). Have you ever seen the "Elvis Rock" at the top end of the Canyon? ~pwRead More
