Hello. My name is Brian Reith, but you can call me B.Reith. This is my story.
I grew up in Milwaukee, WI, enjoying all that the 80's had to offer: The Smurfs, G.I. Joe, The ORIGINAL Transformers, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (the list goes on). I can remember singing along with my Fischer Price boom box when I was really little. The first r&b song I liked was "Lean On Me," not the original Bill Withers version, but the Club Nevoua remix, you know, with the part where they say "Pump it up homeboy just like that!!"
I sang on a commercial for Osh-Kosh B'Gosh when I was five. My dad had a professional studio in our basement, so I learned a lot as a kid but took it for granted of course. Then when I was in middle school my friends and I would watch MTV and BET, and for whatever reason I started to like hip hop. That's when I started to rap.
I never thought I could do music as a profession, so I went through five years of college at three different schools and finished with a degree I'll never use. But all along that time I was developing my gift in music. I was learning who I really am and what I really wanted to say.
I did some independent stuff around Milwaukee for a few years and then moved down to Nashville in 2004. Now I'm happy to say that after a lot of searching, wandering, and tons of confusing conversations, I'm walking out what I feel God has called me to do for this season of my life. I just finished an EP called "The Forecast". It took me all last year to work on, but I'm very happy with it. I learned a lot working with super talented musicians and my co-producer Bryan Lenox, and how to piece it all together. Now I'm looking forward to doing as many shows as possible, connecting with as many people as I can, and coming up with new and fresh ideas to share with the world for them to enjoy and maybe even learn from. I know my identity is not in music, I am a redeemed child of God, and His plan for me is greater than any plan I could ever come up with myself. I look forward to the adventure He has mapped out to lead me through. Thank you for reading this, or maybe you skimmed through it, either way, I hope you got something out of it :)
