Buffalo Waterfront This is what it should have read.......Google Searching--Facebook is automatically indexing all your information on Google by default if your privacy is not set to friends only (which allows everyone to view it). To change this option, go to Settings, Privacy, Search, and then remove the checkmark in the box that reads..., "Allow indexing." Or set your profile privacy settings to friends only.

FYI FB Users- Actually this is not new it has been an option in your privacy settings since 2007. FB gives users the option to create a public search listings (Google) to enable people to search for your name and see a link to your FB profile. Its only a link, your personal privacy settings then take affect.
So yes if you don't want a link when you google your name, uncheck the box.

Kelly, then anyone like say "Buffalo Network" witch I am part of can see your info. If you are part of the Buffalo Network everyone from Buffalo can see your info, unless you set to friends only. Buffalo Network has over 500 thousand people in it

The indexing option has been there for a long time....it is not a new feature. You can check the box if you want people who search your name on the internet to find you or keep unchecked if you'd rather not be publicly indexed. The only way your personal information is published is if you have your privacy settings set to EVERYONE. If your settings are marked as Friends Only your personal info will NOT be indexed.
