Good morning, Kimmie. The cool thing that you found is that it's not necessary to get "dragged" into any converasation you really don't want to be in. And silence before speaking can help you communicate that with tact and kindness. On the other hand, if you enjoy discussing religion and politics, then the lesson from that recent post and the ... Ver maislesson that Dumont taught was that, as long as you're silent for enough time before responding so that you have enough time to properly form your response (again, wth tact and kindness being the key) then you are in a position to add very positively to the conversation and get your point across in such a way that it's much more likely to be accepted, or at least not resisted out of hand. I really congratulate you Kimmy. You rock, my friend!

Hi Maureen, thank YOU and Happy Thanksgiving to the entire Stelter clan. It's a nice feeling to know we have family in Indiana. :-) I'm joining my Folks, sister, brother-in-law and their kids in Westin later on, and I know we'll be talking about all of you with great affection. You've really been a blessing to us.

In his 1918 work, The Power of Concentration (re-published in ebook form by Mike Litman), the author, Theron Dumont wrote, “It is necessary to be silent before you can speak wisely.” True enough, as stated. But then he goes on to write something I believe to be particularly profound. Ac...

Hi Kimmie. By my nature (or, what is natural for me), it is mine, as well. It's something I've worked very dilligently throughout the years on overcoming. And, as is the case with many of my natural weaknesses, it's something I find I have to stay conscious of. The good news is that it certainly gets easier, and "more natural" over time. Thank you for sharing, Kimmie, and make it a Terrific Thanksgiving!
