

Calvin College Happy fourth of July to everyone and a belated happy Canada Day to the Canadians here. Next week Friday we celebrate John Calvin's 500th birthday on campus and around the world. In light of that a column today in the Kazoo Gazette by a Calvin grad from N.J. was kind of interesting. Food for thought perhaps.


Calvin College As announcements came today that the U.S. jobless rate now stands at 9.5 percent the new lead story on the News & Stories Web site -- on a Calvin connection to a national, Twitter-based effort to help the unemployed find work -- is particularly timely. There are also interesting new stories on the new Hoogenboom Center (the old Calvin Fieldhouse) and a recent high school hoops camp/tourney on campus.

Calvin College When I was sports information director at Calvin this was one of my favorite things to write about. The awards are the most significant the college gives to a student-athlete, and they culminate what is generally four pretty impressive years on and off the playing field. And they are named for people who are now deceased, thus honoring those who made a difference in the past.
