Carnegie-Stout Public Library Any World War II history buffs out there? In honor of Pearl Harbor Day, Footnote.com has made all of their WWII resources free through the end of December. I wasn't familiar with the site before this morning, but it looks like the've got some interesting things over there: photos, submarine patrol reports, JAG case files, and more.

Keep sending them, pictures. When will they remove the ramps to the temp. entrance?

The ramp on the inside has been removed in preparation for shifting adult nonfiction over to that corner. I'm not sure how long the outside ramp will stick around.

The outside ramp will remain until the end of construction because the contractors will use it when this area of the library is renovated. The dumpsters, fencing, etc., will eventually move to Locust St. When they do, the end is near! (probably mid-Spring)

For the record, I'll be pretty liberal in decided whether or not something is library-related. If it's got a book in it, I'll probably be happy.

Carnegie-Stout Public Library While I was taking renovation photos I went ahead and grabbed this one, too. This is the library's new blu-ray viewing station. We needed something that would let us test blu-ray discs that people tell us are damaged and we figured that if we were going to have a blu-ray player around we should share it with you guys. ...So if you've got time to kill downtown or want to see if blu-rays are as great as people say, come have a look. (Bring headphones!)

Lurid holiday fiction for adult readers at Carnegie-Stout Public Library . . . .

Lurid? No sex scenes, but funnier than heck. Donna Andrews "found" a great character, who has a hysterical family and a knack for solving murder cases. Her female blacksmith with a "notebook that tells her when to breath" is witty and wild. A great read.
