Charles D. Boggus Interesting reading of Assembly Bill AB 713 by Assemblyman Ted Gaines - he was attempting to enact a bill that would require the State to bill the Federal Government for the costs of incarcerating illegal immigrants ($970 Million Dollars a Year) of which the Federal Government currently re-imburses our State ONLY $118 Million a Year

CBS13 KOVR-TV Like to go ice skating? Then we have a story for you. We tested the air quality in several indoor rinks and made a startling find. The air at the ice rink could be more toxic than the air on an L.A. freeway! See the results of our undercover investigation - tonight at 10.

The worst place looked in pretty bad shape. It's too bad too. That guy and the rink have been there forever and he probably doesn't have all the money to keep it up. But being over the OUTSIDE limit of carbon monoxide INSIDE IS something to worry about. Maybe some nice people with money and big hearts will step up and help. You guys shoulda tested the Stockton Arena, probably more people there than the other places, also probably the newest, but a contrast would be good.

Try several hundred State commissions/committee's, or very large annual salaries with super perks and benefits, or 10.5 Billion taxpayer dollars going to provide medical, education and the incarceration of the California population of illegal immigrants, or the special interest groups and lobbyists, or the pet projects or pork as they are so often referred to as, or we elect "executive level managers" based on popularity to our Senate, Assembly and other State Government posts.

Re: the ground squirrel report:

Not all squirrels are the same! I'm pretty sure the squirrel in the footage shown was a red squirrel - not even native to the US, let alone CA. The report appeared to be about ground squirrels which are quite different than the tree-dwelling squirrels we have in CA (grey squirrel and fox ...squirrel). They live on the ground as their name implies and can cause a lot of destruction with their burrowing. This is probably why the county is allowing them to be poisoned. My concern is that people won't be careful with the poison and other animals will be affected by it.Read More

Cindy Jensen And be there for them, not Planned Parenthood and not the government, not the teachers, but the parents. As it should be, I hope it reaches all the way from East to west Coast, even vermont, who takes things especially with children way too lightly.

CBS13 KOVR-TV (ProducerCam) What do you think of new government guidelines on breast cancer screening?

A government task force said Monday that most women don't need mammograms in their 40s and should get one every two years starting at 50 — a stunning reversal and a break with the American Cancer Society's long-standing position. ...

"I'm not thinking politics at this point,...If you don't find your own lump and eventually insurance co's take to the govt standard many more women will die for no good reason! " -Kristin

Kristin, you better be thinking about politics because politicians have been trying to find a way for last few months to be able to say "we have universal health care" while not providing services. If people had a clue they would vote smarter.

Charles D. Boggus After serving 22 years (military and fed) and now residing in California, I am curious as to the validity of the attached link, boasting that California taxpayer dollars in the amount of 10.5 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR goes to illegal immigrants. Is that helping our deficit, or hurting it?

Source: www.fairus.org
Analysis of the latest Census data indicates that California's illegal immigrant population is costing the state's taxpayers more than $10.5 billion per year for education, medical care and incarceration. ...

CBS13 KOVR-TV (ProducerRob) A new iPhone app -- iStoryTime -- claims to be a tool that will read to your kids for you. The question is obvious: Why aren't mom and dad doing the reading? Is there any value to this or is it just an excuse for parents?

The time spent reading with our kids is a very personal and important time for family. This is what is lacking in the American lifestyle today, among other things. Having an application read to the kids is letting parents off the hook again. As it is hardly any kids eat a healthy dinner with their parents anymore because both parents are working... Read More overtime and too tired and busy to make meals at a normal time during the week. I don't agree with Steve. I think this is something important to look at, especially since I'm a parent of two small children who really value that time reading at night before bedtime.
