Hello,
On Sunday November 8th the local chapter of the Coast Guard Riders will be hosting a memorial ride for the seven members of the US Coast Guard and two members of the US Marines that where involved in a mid air collision that happened last Thursday off the Coast of San Diego. We will meet at the Petaluma F...airgrounds parking lot at around 0945 and plan to hit the road around 1010. We will leave Petaluma with our final destination being Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento. We will not be able to access the actual base but we can pay our respects outside the gates and show the crew of Air Station Sacramento that we appreciate what they do for our community. We are asking but not requring a 10 dollar donation per person that will go directly to the family fund that has been set up by US Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma. We will be taking donations at the Fairgrounds before we depart. Again this is not mandatory but any thing you can spare would be greatly appreciated. This is our little way to show our repsects to our fallen shipmates and hero's who serve and protect our nation. If you do not have a motorcycle and would still like to attend please feel free to drive with us. It would be great to have a couple of chase vehicles to carry any supplies that are needed. Please pass this on to anyone that you know who rides this is open to anyone and everyone. This not only gives us the oppurtunity to pay our respects but also gives the community the chance to ride with the men and woman who serve and protect everyday.
We will be making stops along the way so please don't let the distance keep you from coming out. It is not about how fast we can get there but the ability to reflect and enjoy each others company.
Thank You for your time, and I look forward to seeing all of you SundayRead More

New Green Glow: We've installed a new "self-illuminating chroma key" in the Weather Center with new low-wattage LED lights to replace the old quartz lights. This backdrop is what lies behind the weather graphics you see when Roberta or Tracy delivers the forecast. This new device is a proto-type for new LEC (Light Emi...tting Capacitor) green screen technology, believed to be the only one of its kind being used this way.
The previous chroma key had more than 1500 watts of lights pointed at it. With the entire weather center lighting system, the area consumed 4200 watts of electricity per hour. This new LEC version uses fewer than 50 watts. With the new LED lighting system, the total usage is down to 700 watts per hour. That's an 83% reduction in energy consumption. As a result of these new systems, we now have one of the most energy efficient, and technologically advanced weather center and update studios anywhere!Read More
