This week, while teaching a CVOICE class, I decided to fire up dynamips and see if I could get a connection to and IP phone via a 3550 switch. Router and Switch can ping each other. The Phone can't get an address from the router & the router doesn't see the phones DHCP discover. After an hour I gave up. At times, I... think you cant beat the real thing. Other times Dynamips seems useful. What do you think?Read More

Brandon Carroll, CCIE #23837 Dynamips has got to be one of the best tools I have used as an instructor to teach people on the fly about OSPF, and EIGRP. It's so easy to throw a topology together and explain things while a classroom watches. Sure beats static slides.

Brandon Carroll, CCIE #23837 With a week of ipv6 in the books I move on to acucm-u. Believe it or not, it's not easy to teach voice one week- r&s the next- security the week after. Sometimes my mind feels like mush. I still love the technology!

Brandon Carroll, CCIE #23837 Having a great class this week. So much to cover for the CCNA class. So far we have done most of the ICND1 material. Tomorrow we start with RIP, move into CDP and then we get more switching and spanning tree!

Brandon Carroll, CCIE #23837 Good News! GlobalConfig.net is now AscoltaBlogs.com and has a new Blogger. Welcome Patrick Geschwindner!

Brandon Carroll, CCIE #23837 Pop Quiz- What Delay Value does EIGRP use in its calculation. The interface says 100 usec. What does EIGRP really use?

Brandon Carroll, CCIE #23837 Just got a 7200 in GNS3 bridged to my Ethernet Interface on my Mac using a cloud. So easy a caveman could do it. I can't believe I had issues with this in the past!
