Fall teams qualify for the post-season

Women’s soccer
The women’s soccer team defeated Mercer County Community College of West Windsor, N.J. on Nov. 6, and Monroe Community College of Rochester, N.Y. on Nov. 8, to win the District Tournament and advance to the NJCAA Division I women’s soccer national championship. The championship will be played at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas from Nov. 19 to 22.

Cross country
CCRI had two runners place in the top 20 of the cross country NJCAA Divison III national championship on Nov. 7, at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, N.Y. Therese Kerin of East Greenwich finished 18th and Jaden Riendeau of East Providence finished 20th.

Men's soccer
The CCRI men’s soccer team, seeded No. 1 in the Region XXI championship tournament, lost to No. 4 seed Dean College (Franklin, Mass.) on Saturday, Oct. 31 in game one. The team finishes the season with a 6-10 overall record and a 6-4 record in Region XXI play.

Winter athletic season is under way
CCRI's winter athletic teams will compete at the Knight Campus in Warwick on the following dates and times. Games are open to the public and tickets are $1 each. There is no cost to attend scrimmages. For more information about CCRI athletics, go to www.ccri.edu/athl.

CCRI's coed tennis team is looking for talented players to join this year's team. Anyone interested in playing needs to be a fulltime student in good academic standing. The French and German Clubs at the Knight Campus in Warwick hosted a Penny Social in the Lower Commons from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5. Faculty, staff and students bid on a variety of prizes, including a Vera Bradley handbag, an autographed Rocco Baldelli baseball, gift certificates and hand-made items. All proceeds will benefit... Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Race for Grace, Muscular Dystrophy Association and the club’s Christmas Toy Drive.

The CCRI men’s basketball team defeated UCONN-Avery Point in their home opener 100-55. The Knights were led by Johnny Stovall (Bridgeport, Conn.) who charted his first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

CCRI’s lead contributors in the game were as follows:
Ricky Fuller (Cranston, R.I.) - 15 points, eig...ht rebounds and three assists
Pat Sturdahl (Exeter, R.I.) - 11 points, six assists and five steals
Co-Captain Dave Storti (Exeter, R.I.) - 11 points, five assists and four steals

Doran Mitchell (New Britain, Conn.) - 10 points
Co-Captain Apollos Wade (Taunton, Mass.) - seven assists

The CCRI women’s basketball team lost its home opener to UCONN-Avery Point (Groton, Conn.) 71-61. The teams were tied at 28 points each at the half.

Leading CCRI’s efforts, Erica Pisaturo (Smithfield, R.I.) scored 17 points, made three steals and two blocks and Noel Bullock (Greenbelt, Md.) scored 14 points and had four... assists. Teighlor Clare-Kearney (Manchester, Conn.) contributed 10 points and four steals while Rajvi Jarvis (Stratford, Conn.) added four points and a team-leading 12 rebounds.

CCRI is ranked No. 14 in the country according to the latest NJCAA Division II poll.
