Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Students from the Community College of Rhode Island’s Biotechnology program met with Rhode Island Governor Donald Carcieri at the State House on Dec. 17 to discuss the future of the biotech industry in Rhode Island.

The governor said that Rhode Island is in a strong position to become a leader in the field, with biotech... companies Amgen and Alexion Inc. located in the state and with CCRI, Brown University and the University of Rhode Island offering programs to provide a well-trained workforce.

“I think those of you who are investing your time and energy into this industry are going to find that it’s a good thing to do,” Carcieri said.

Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Using funds raised as part of the Community College of Rhode Island’s capital campaign, “Imagine: The Campaign for Endless Possibilities,” the college completed renovations to its Dental Assisting Lab at the Flanagan Campus for the start of Fall 2009. CCRI’s dental assisting and dental hygiene students returned at the ...beginning of the academic year to find a bright, welcoming, state-of-the-art educational facility. The lab renovation was one of several upgrades made to CCRI’s allied health programs through the campaign. On Dec. 15, 2009, CCRI celebrated the renovations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Visit www.ccri.edu/imagine for more information about the campaign.
