@Derek, preaching? I just mentioned that some "conservatives" have joined a progressive effort to fight global warming (http://www.350.org/). Wasn't the question of the day about convservative solutions to climate change?

Then I raised a question about the Hu-Obama approach for addressing climate change that was in the news that morning: http://... See Morehttp://bit.ly/PPpas.

I didn't imply that I condoned China's current environmental policies, did I? If anything, I think the recent Hu-Obama approach is too slow and I wanted to draw attention to it.

Change.org Hypocrisy alert: it seems that while Republicans have been fighting to ban abortion coverage from new health insurance programs, Republican staffers have enjoyed insurance that covers their reproductive rights.

Well, although I do not like Republicans at all any more (I was one by the way for a while and voted for Reagan, Daddy Bush, and even GW the first time [a vote I am deeply ashamed of now]), Justin does have one point that I agree on. Many liberals believe that pro-choice stance is the one held by all liberals and progressives. Absolutely not true... See More! In fact, I would guess that probably have of progressives are pro-Life! As I am. Even though I am further left on most things than the Democrats (I am registered as Green Party), this is one plank of the party that I disagree upon. It is the main reason, along with strong defense, that I voted Republican in the past. I will never do so again, but I do not want one thin dime of my tax dollars going to pay for abortions! Life is life and all of it is precious. This is not a religiious viewpoint. It is a sanctity of all life viewpoint! Anyway, I just wanted to state that not all progressives and liberals are pro-choice! Probably not even a large majority.

@Stephanie: Yes, you can eat meat and call yourself an environmentalist. It is not exactly about what you consume, but how much and in what fashion you consume. Too much consumption before the supply can be replenished is a bad thing. Over-consumption is the root of the issue here. Amazonian cattle industry should halt their efforts before more damage is done.

See Moreunexpected moments in our life..." President Clinton is six months older than me; I have changed, so is it so difficult to believe that he has not? Gay marriage, and the rights and lack of respect, makes me feel that TOO many citizens in this country, sadly, suffer from homophobia. Why? Is it disgusting to you? I bet broccoli is, too. Put your insipid fears off of all burners, and give those who were born gay all rights that YOU, and I take for granted!!
