Agustin Serrano Jr.

Agustin Serrano Jr. I got a question & was wondering if anyone here could give me an explanation?

What range of networks will be advertised in the OSPF updates by the command
Router1(config-router)# network 192.168.0.0 0.0.15.255 area 100?

As you can see from the OSPF network command subnet mask is :

255.255.240.0

We were able to calculate subnet mask by subtracting wildcard mask value from the value 255.255.255.255.... See More

255.255.255.255
- 0. 0. 15.255
---------------------
255.255.240.0

From the subnet mask we can see that 4 bits were borrowed from the third octet, giving us a 20-bit network prefix. At this point we know that our subnet is 192.168.0.0 /20 and other informations we need to know are :

Network address : 192.168.0.0 /20
Broadcast address : 192.168.15.255 /20
First usable IP : 192.168.0.1
Last usable IP : 192.168.15.254

Next subnet will start at 192.168.16.0

I'm just wondering why the latest PT still don't support summarization in ospf. PT 5.0 higher already supports multi area ospf but there is no summarization option.

Luis you are so right. Whenever I use GNS3 my computer lags

Regarding GNS3: VMWare can run those systems provided the host system can support the workload. Though ACS, if I remember it, needs 1GB of RAM but nobody would stop you from lowering the memory foot print after installation. That's the weird part with VMWare - lowering the memory at times better's the performance.

I'm talking Workstation.

Also, ... See Morehope you make sure that your BIOS can support Intel-VT or AMD-V - that makes hypervisor a well-worth addition to the support GNS3 has. Dynamips has this already enabled. Great with Idle PC.
