Thanks to all of you for your feedback. In fact, Mayor Menino has an ambitious plan to encourage biking in the city. And increasing parking is part of that. Boston is the only city to have replaced a car parking spot with a bike rack (on Massachusetts Avenue near Newbury Street), and we... See More’ve placed 150 bike racks all around the city. Mayor Menino's goal is to continue placing 250 racks a year, spaced 300 meters apart, and residents can request a bike rack anytime. As for the free car parking, you can park for free for two consecutive hours at any time during the day on Saturday. Free parking will also be available the following Saturday, Dec. 26th.
