There are high hopes for what President Obama will bring to the table tomorrow - the last day of COP15 negotiations.
Senator Kerry's talk yesterday, http://en.cop15.dk/news/view+news?newsid =3029 laid out some pretty straight-forward terms for what the US expects from China and other Developing nations to be able to move forward.

Climate One China's "Solar King' Huang Ming talking with Gov. Schwarzenegger and Greg Dalton about the opportunity in scaling renewable energy, particularly heating water with the sun.

Climate One Dr. Pachauri and Gov. Schwarzenegger talking about climate policy in the "green room" before they take the stage.

Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal
With America's largest deposits of coal and uranium, Wyoming sends massive amounts of energy to California and the rest of the country. Governor Dave Freudenthal is trying to chart a new path for an extraction state where half the people don't believe global warming is real.
He's looking... to cleaner ways of using coal and believes natural gas is a winner, for fueling transportation or generating electricity. Wind power is also promising but getting it to market without trampling on endangered species and testy landowners is a challenge.
Can California technology and innovation help illuminate the way? Join us for a special opportunity to discuss America's energy future with the down-to-earth chief executive of this powerhouse state.

THE Copenhagen climate summit is in chaos after poor countries walked out of negotiations en masse today.

A snipit from Kerry Curtis' report home:
The showdown is between the poor countries (the "South"), and the rich countries (the "North"). Some factions within the South have demanded reparations from the North, in addition to massive subsidies to help them prepare for impacts of climate change. The U.S. negotiator Todd ...Stern: "Surely you jest". (Words to that effect.) Everybody's waiting for the U.S. to show its hand, but Obama can't commit much because whatever deal his team signs has to be approved by the Senate, which includes a bunch of people who can't even spell climate. Sigh...
Anyway, it's stimulating to be present at one of the most important meetings in world history (I don't think that's really hyperbole - OK, maybe Yalta, Potsdam, and Versailles were bigger deals). Even if no firm deal gets done, which is likely, the framework that emerges will be crucial for short-term actions and for a 2010 treaty in Mexico.
Pics to come...

Climate One It's 9:30am and the line to get into the conference center is 1 - 2 hours long; I haven't even moved a ft in 30 min. And, it's everyone with a badge in this line, even Party negotiators!

Climate One Massive protest yesterday by tens of thousands of people. We watched it from afar. Today heard Energy Secretary Steve Chu talk about MLK's "fierce urgency of now." He's one smart dude and ending of his speech is very convincing. Also heard Dr. Rajendra Pachauri talk about strong scientific consnsus on climate action.

This photo of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, remorseful in his old age, was one of the first images we saw today arriving at Copenhagen Airport for the climate conference. It reads" We could have stopped catastrophic climate change. We didn't."
This advocacy campaign features similar photos of President Barack Ob...ama and other world leaders looking back at their opportunity when they were in power.
We'll be posting other photos and insights from Copenhagen through next week.
