i agree with both of the above posts . if investors will take the time and effort to do their own research by reading ; perhaps they will find that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to manage a portfolio of funds carefully selected . many investors who were already in retirement with million dollar portfolios are now faced with having to come out... See More of retirement because of suffering huge losses at the hands of brokers that they had entrusted with their hard earned money . securities fraud is more common now than ever. example, bernie madoff . just becaue brokers have more knowledge than regular people doesn't necessarily mean that once they have your money they will also put your best interest ahead of theirs . otherwise for investors who would rather pay and trust a broker to shoulder their investing tasks , that's what they're in business for .

What does congress know about monetary policy? They have proven that they can't fun fiscal policy, so why do they want to meddle in the monetary side? What happens when congress wants to get re-elected and stops the fed from raising rates for fear they will lose an election? Where does this lead? Are they also going to call in the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to defend the courts decisions? This is very, very scary stuff.
