My younger brother tried snowboarding for the first time yesterday, and I took him up to Loveland...

Ski movie stars from the 90s, detailed descriptions of big mountain skiing in Chamonix, deep reflections on skiing and mortality, seriously; what more could you want from a book? William A...

This past weekend sucked if you wanted to ski in the high country. If you wanted to sit out on the deck and kick back a few beers… it was perfect. Highs in the low 60s means only the following: no new snow, crappy conditions, bare spots, and slush...

Not every skier or snowboarder prefers to wear hats. I actually know a lot of ladies that prefer headbands on the slopes. Like most people, I also enjoy listening to music (at an appropriate level) while skiing. That’s where the i360 Music Infused Headband steps in...

Tramdock is like Woot for ski gear. Go to the web page and they’ll have one item on sale at a ridiculously reduced price. They’ll sell this item until it’s out of stock and then move on to the next item. They have all the best brands at great prices...

If you haven’t seen these yet, go check out Beardhead.com. Basically they’re full-face caps that look like beards. They look hilarious and serve a great purpose: keep your face, lip and chin toasty warm...

For an amazing photo set of the 2008-09 Ski Jumping World Cup, featuring Steamboat Springs’ Todd Lodwick, head on over to The Big Picture.

From 106.7 KBPI: “It’s time to get you on the hills for just $10.67. KBPI and Breckenridge are teaming up for Humpday Hooky again and our next trip is on Wednesday, January 14th, 2009...

Crystal Ski Shop in Boulder recently started a cool tuning deal where you save 40% by dropping your skis off for tuning on Monday and then picking them up after 7am on Friday.Using the “Manic Monday” discount, you can get an economy tune for only $15. Perfect for the weekend warrior...

If you don’t have a season pass this year (or you’re holding the Colorado Pass) then Intrawest has a great deal: $99 for a day pass to Copper, Winter Park, and Steamboat. Let’s make this clear: that’s $33 per day. Frankly, this is worth the day at Steamboat alone...

This weekend has been great for the mountains. Most resorts saw at least half a foot and Breckenridge was one of them. There are plenty of bare spots all over the mountain but if you search hard enough you could find some great, untouched snow over on Peak 8...

We’re a small group here at CoSnow and we’re looking for some great contributors to help fill the gaps. We can’t be everywhere all the time (and I’ll be out of town for 3 weeks starting Friday)! So, if you’d like to help out: sign up on our contributor page and post an article...

“Top snowboarders from around the globe will compete in their quest for the title of overall winner during the kickoff to America’s largest competitive snowboarding tour - the U.S...

“Copper is bringing you some holiday relief by freeing up blackout dates on the Four Pass! Four days of skiing and snowboarding access to Copper’s one-of-a-kind naturally divided terrain and FREE parking. Blackout days lifted!” Rock on. Nobody likes a blackout date

I’ll be honest, the snow hasn’t been great in Summit County. It’s only been in the last few weeks that we’ve seen a lot of fresh snow up there. This was the first “real” day of skiing for me (opening weekend was just for practice)...

If you’ve been following the CoSnow events calendar you’d know tonight there is a free concert and party up at Keystone. Girl Talk will be performing and we’ll be there for it! BONUS: the first e-mail to devin@cosnow.com will get TWO free night ski tickets, tonight only...

A new line of snowboards called ‘Love’ from Burton have nearly-nude models on them and Vail Resorts, Winter Park, and Echo Mountain (so far) have prohibited employees from riding on them. Sure it’s common sense...

If you’re looking for one of the best half-pipes in the world, get ready because Copper is opening the superpipe this weekend. It’s built by the same group that builds the X Games and various other projects across the world. If you’re curious, half-pipes cost at least $100,000 to build.

Looking for upcoming events, fun things, concerts, and snow activities across the state? Look no further than Colorado Snow events. CoSnow events pulls together all the best events this season. You won’t find a more comprehensive list anywhere else. Check out the events page...

Here’s an opportunity for you: to offset the costs of avalanche control at Silverton, they’re offering heli drops for as low as $150 (per run). They also offer touring packages and custom vacations. If you’re not familiar with the resort, Silverton is about 6 hours south west of Denver...

Based on hotel bookings, Orbitz has compiled a list they call the Orbitz Ski Index. It actually surprised me to see Breckenridge so high on the list, beating out Banff and Whistler. But, of course, all the usual suspects are there: Vail, Aspen, Winter Park, etc...

Today is the opening day for Crested Butte and Steamboat. Tomorrow we’ll see Aspen, Snowmass and Telluride. Have fun out there!

Winter Park is one of the first resorts to roll out what we’ve all been waiting for: text message snow alerts straight to our cell phones. Choose between daily reports or powder alerts when Winter Park receives 5” of snow or more...

Winter Park is opening tomorrow morning at 9 AM and both Eldora and Echo Mountain will be open this weekend. These three are local favorites for two very different reasons, Winter Park offers the terrain we call Mary Jane. Eldora and Echo are both close and easy...

Having talked to a lot of recent graduates its amazing the number of students that retreat to the mountains after college. Instead of getting a “real” job a lot of people decide the culture, snow, and life experience is better in the mountains. I don’t blame them...

Our friends over at SkiNet are running an awesome contest where the winner can win Atomic skis, a Dakine luggage bag, or a ski jacket. Plus, you’re entered to get updates in their weekly newsletter. Sounds like win-win-win to me? Click here to enter the SkiNet sweepstakes.

A few quick thoughts on the new Gondola at River Run in Keystone. 1) Moving it closer (away from the slope) is nice. 2) The mid-mountain station is great because beginners always struggle with that last chunk of the hill and can down-load...

Discussion on the new Keystone gondola today prompted an interesting bit of trivia: it costs resorts anywhere from $100,000 to $300,000 to make snow for the super pipes (half-pipes) in Colorado.

The Colorado Pass will be on sale this weekend and if you pick it up at the Ski & Snowboard Expo you’ll get two bonus buddy passes (buy two tickets for $50 each).

If you haven’t gone up yet this season you’re about to run out of excuses. Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Keystone all open tomorrow: Friday, November 7, 2008. See you up there!

Copper has decided that with all the snow falling (last night saw at least 8 inches!) they’re going to open a full week earlier. Copper will now open up on November 7th, only two Fridays away. For anyone worried about early season snow this year, fear not...
