I hope you'll all be able to attend and if not don't forget to watch on Thanksgiving day on FOX. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Ben Basloe at ben.basloe@fightcolorectalcancer.org. You can also view the event at www.womenandcancer.com.Read More

Briefly: Health care providers are less likely to recommend colorectal cancer screening to their patients with a high school education or less. IV ibuprofen enhances morphine to control post-operative pain, reducing pain and letting patients use less morphine.

C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition Next week, we'll be opening Call-on Congress registration at a special discount rate just to previous attendees and those who fill out the interest form before we open registration to the general public. Briefly: More colorectal cancer patients experience severe rash from Erbitux than other cancer patients, and significantly more men and younger people have severe rash than women and patients over 70.

I sure had a nasty rash, everywhere! They say that's a sign of how well it's working, and that's some (little) consolation when your face is erupting worse than it did at 15! I had the most relief using Aveeno oatmeal moisturizing skin lotion, and Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath soak. I'm 40, metastasized colorectal cancer, by the way.

C3: Colorectal Cancer Coalition C3 is incredibly grateful for President Obama recognizing the importance of screenings. Congress could go one step further and pass legislation that currently exists - HR1189 - which would create a National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program. Take action and have your voice heard!

In hisspeech before a joint session of Congress on September 9, 2009, President Obama called out colorectal cancer screening as saving both money and lives. To applause from listening members of Congress, he said:

In research this week Japanese surgeons report very good outcomes when lung tumors from colorectal cancer tumors can be completely removed, colonoscopies done in the morning find more polyps, and high levels of vitamin D in the blood predict better survival after colorectal cancer diagnosis.

Yes! Interesting about Vitamin D. Dr. Chang wants mine to be 55; it is currently 40. Yet, this morning my oncologist remarked that he usually sees a level of 20-30.Will have to read. Just got back from a rousing 9.5 year (thought it was 10)complete check up. Everything looks good.Bloodwork back Monday.

Colorectal cancer patients with early stage disease were 30 percent less likely to die from cancer and 20 percent less likely to die at all if they took aspirin regularly after their diagnosis.
