Hi Ashley, I am sorry to hear your child has left the program. We appreciate your willingness to sponsor another child in her place! Your new child will receive a gift from the Christmas Fund that you already donated to. As Debbie mentioned, every child in the program receives a gift for Christmas from this fund. The new child will also know that the gift is from you!

Just log into your account on the main Compassion website. Once on, you can click on a tab on the left about your child and from there, you can contact them with an email.

how do they read it if they dont speak or read english? how do they get the letters?

they have translators in each country, the letters go to each country about once a month and get distrubuted to the individual churches.

Hello Donna, great question! We assign each available child to one place/event at a time. There are two possible scenarios for your situation:

1. It is possible that this boy in Ethiopia was taken off our web assignment and assigned to a concert or church event for a period of time. He was not sponsored at this event, so we assigned him back to the internet.

2. As Holly mentioned above, a sponsor (we will call her Jane) may have clicked on the boy's picture and then decided she was not going to sponsor him. But because we want to avoid two sponsors sponsoring the same child, we took the boy's picture away from anyone else's view while Jane was considering him. When Jane decided not to sponsor him, his picture may have gone back on the web site after about 45 minutes. ... See More

Thanks for the explanation. Also, sometimes when they are no longer there it has a short message that the child has been sponsored and other times it simply goes to a random selection of children. When it goes to a random selection of children does that mean that child may be featured at a church or concert event? I have just been assuming they were sponsored if they were no longer there. Thanks!

Although that's not available right now, we do have two things that you can do which are somewhat similar.

You can add this app to your profile and display children that are currently in need of a sponsor.

You can join ourcompassion.org where the idea you suggested is a reality, plus the ability to search for other sponsors that sponsor a child in the same child development center as your child.

Right now, the Facebook app you're requesting isn't available because we have to work out the safety and privacy issues with having the app connect directly to our database and your private information.
