Congressman Charlie Dent In a few moments, I will be appearing on Fox News to discuss today's hearing in the Homeland Security Committee on the United States Secret Service and presidential protection. This hearing was called to analyze how, despite having not been invited, two party crashers were able to enter the White House for a recent State Dinner hosted by President Obama.

Congressman Charlie Dent The House recently passed a resolution I cosponsored designating this Sunday, November 29th, as 'Drive Safer Sunday' (H.Res. 841). Over the next few days, many Americans will be traveling to spend time with family and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday. During this time of increased traffic, I ask that you please rem...ember to drive safely. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Congressman Charlie Dent Last week, I signed a bipartisan letter to House leadership encouraging them to advance important land conservation legislation that I have cosponsored (H.R. 1831). This bill will permanently extend a critical conservation tax incentive that helps preserve thousands of acres of land throughout the US, including dwindli...ng farmland in the Northeast region. To view this letter, please follow the link below.

This is a great idea. I hope you might take a look at another interesting proposal that would help create incentives for denser development, in order to protect the "dwindling farmland" from big-boxes stores and other sprawl that endangers it. The plan would tax undeveloped land in designated areas at a higher rate than buildings, which would allow... See More building owners to retain more of the value of their investments while jolting development in the crucial urban cores (downtown Easton, Bethlehem, and Allentown) instead of creating more sprawl on the margins. http://nexus.umn.edu/Papers/LandValueTax.pdf

While our discussion focused primarily on health care reform, we also addressed other important matters being considered in Congress. I hope you'll find the discussion was constructive and informative.

Also, I want to clarify that by "educated" I mean informed of the issues, not merely those that are formally educated, i.e. college and such.

I am befuddled that a constituent of a Congressman as Mr. Geeting would purport to be is complaining because said Congressman is announcing availability to other constituents. Congressman Dent is as available as any politician I've ever met.

Congressman Charlie Dent Recently, I cosponsored H.R. 1250, the bipartisan Public Good IRA Rollover Act. This legislation would make the existing IRA charitable rollover permanent and remove the current $100,000 annual cap on donations. I believe this important legislation will support charitable organizations throughout the 15th District and ...help them positively impact the lives of more local residents. Well said, Karen. On a trip last week to DC, Mr. Dent was the ONLY legislator who took the time to meet with our SHRM chapter to discuss ways to strengthen the local economy and encourage job growth. Senators Casey and Specter were NO-shows with NO explanation. That said a lot to our group, that's for sure.
