Jessica Tonight in my Animal Rights and Animal Welfare Social Movements class we watched a movie called "Your Mommy Kills Animals." Best Friends was in the movie (in a good way, despite the negative name of the movie!) and I'm fairly certain I spotted (a slightly younger) Synergy eating the water from a hose! It made me all ex...cited to know that I've met a movie star ;)
Linda Blauch Syrah loves her foster home, but really wants a permanent home. She's very, very well behaved. Anyone looking for an older dog should seriously consider this girl.
Conrad's and Leopold's at Dogtown, Best Friends Animal Society The world's most energetic lampshade, Dakota, continues to recover well - he's now allowed access to a dog door and a little more freedom and activity. He has to keep his e-collar on for a little bit longer because he has a tendency to chew at himself - we think that heavy coat of his must itch like crazy growing back!... I hear he has a new pair of pants that might help with that as well - hopefully I can get some pictures of that when I get back!
Deauburn Vixie John, how about an update on the finances still required (if any?) for building the enclosed rec. area at C&L? This of course if you guys ever did out of winter down there:):):) that will ever allow you to dig a fence hole. How is Dakota doing these days?

Conrad's and Leopold's at Dogtown, Best Friends Animal Society
One of our beloved kitchen dogs passed away last week. Although Mini was not officially a BF dog - she came here with her owner Michelle when she joined the BF staff - she was very much a part of Best Friends. Mini began her career here as a greeter at the welcome center and also worked as a greeter and treat solicitor... in Dogtown HQ, Conrad's and Leopold's, and other buildings including the Lodges Kitchen. She was beloved by all and one of the sweetest, gentlest dogs I have ever known - she had perfect manners with people and was wonderful with other dogs. She was extremely affectionate with people and loved to lick - especially after lunch! When she stayed with us up in Conrad's kitchen she would sometimes tag along with me on my trips to town for lunch. She might have had a piece of sandwich or two. :)
Mini was a wonderful ambassador for pit bulls and one of the most charming dogs I have ever met. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew her. Our thoughts are with her and with Michelle.
Linda Blauch Syrah says hello to her fellow caregivers (note beagles in the background). She stayed at home all day today with the beagles. Hope all is going well.
