– Steve Koppman's futuristic (prescient?) Homage to Catatonia envisions a world where we're all plugged in, and questions the cost. Directed by Ashley Marinaccio.

– Craig Abernethy's sharp comedy Do/Don't Do turns the playwright's incredible eye for social commentary on a (not so) ordinary street crossing. Directed by Robert A. K. Gonyo.

– In Reina Hardy's classic tale of truth versus fiction, Smooth Criminal, a writer of a fraudulent blog is forced to choose between integrity or a book deal. Directed by Casey Cleverly.

– And in COTE Artistic Director Robert A. K. Gonyo's Urinal Play, a young man must deal with his impertinent boss who has run out of toilet paper. Directed by Robert A. K. Gonyo.

The ensemble includes Kerrie Bond, Joseph Faranda, Ben Gooch, Stephen Hensel, Serena Miller, Veronique Ory, Nicole Perperas, Bethany Pollock, David Roberts, Adam Schneider, Jenny Stodd, and Michael Wetherbee.

Decadent Acts
Written by Ashley Marinaccio
Directed by Robert A. K. Gonyo

Featuring:
Katherine Hyde, Jennifer Carp, Beatrice Miller, Ruis Woertendyke, Joanie Fritz-Zosike, C. Rose Kearns, Michelle Sims, Talitha Custer, Adam Schneider, David Roberts, Ben Prayz, and Bethany Poll...ock

Decadent Acts, set in late 1980s New York City, chronicles the story of a prominent lesbian couple struggling against legislated discrimination. The story follows professor Jolene Shatila, her partner, television personality Farah White, and their young daughter Nicole as they deal with challenges stemming from Farah's terminal illness.

Decadent Acts examines the effects of discriminatory laws against same-sex partners in late 1980s New York, plunging emotional as well as political depths with grace and searing honesty. At a time when the push for full equality is finally building real momentum across the country, this play couldn’t be timelier.

COTE welcomes you to come and get a sneak peak into some of the work we'll be doing in our 2009-2010 season!

Diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels -- brutality, neglect, a punch, even a put-down -- in A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant an...d A Prayer: Writings To Stop Violence Against Women and Girls, a groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle.

Last year over 4000 V-Day benefits took place around the world raising funds and awareness towards ending violence against women. Since 1998, V-Day and these highly successful events have raised over $60 million for local beneficiaries working to end violence against women and girls. Hot on the heels of their success, COTE has joined this global movement as part of the V-Day 2009 Campaign.

All proceeds from COTE's production will be donated to Day One NY, the only NYC nonprofit that specifically targets teen dating abuse. With a mission to end domestic violence through work with youth, their legal services program works with victims between the ages of 12 and 22 who experience abuse at the hands of their partner. In addition to offering legal and support services designed specifically for young victims of domestic violence, Day One also seeks to prevent abuse.
