The Banner Magazine With Christ’s active reign here, yet not fully here, how do we live in such a way that we extend (the recognition of) Christ’s kingdom on earth? In a North American context, that seems to fall primarily to the church and evangelism. How should we proceed in the twenty-first century? Check out the discussion on Bob's bl...og: http://www.thebanner.org/wordpress/blog/?p=71#comments

In response to my last post (”In the World but not of the World”), Eric Verhulst writes:“Given that God’s Kingdom covers the universe (Jesus IS Lord - this does not require our permission), it cannot grow.”

The Banner Magazine In response to Bob DeMoor’s last blog post, discussion turned toward how people choose to spend their time. One view says turn inward to the Christian community lest we fall prey to secular lies. Another view says this is not the radical engagement Christians are to have with the world. What do you think? Comment here..., or join the discussion at Bob’s blog. http://tinyurl.com/ydu2ed3

I’ve been very interested in following the discussion in response to mylast post (”Making Space for God”) in which I asked if the busyness in our lives isn’t often crowding out our walk with God.

Henry Ritskes Thanks to Prof. Mulder for your article 'A Silent Dwelling'. An another example of where we as individuals can be angry disappointment and lose our focus on God ane thd the need for others to do this in a silent way. It seems like a bad sell to me. The CRCNA is asking us to adopt the confession, NOT because it is a pure confession of the truths of the Gospel, but so that we can somehow do penance for the abomination of apartheid that the Dutch Reformed Church in Africa supported. Since when (and where) does the Gospel tell us to do penance for our sins? That is... See More a works-based gospel, NOT in keeping with any of the accepted creeds or confessions, let alone the Gospel! The IRC's Option 3, would be better; accept it as a statement of faith, NOT a creed. Statements of faith are, by definition, situational as opposed to dogmatic. On the social justice idea, have we not learned the lessons of Walter Rauschenbusch? The social gospel is hopelessly anemic! We must be just as the Scripture teaches, but that CANNOT take the place of preaching the Gospel! Why does adoption of this document hinge on the social gospel and penance? I cry foul!
