The weather was lousy but what better way to see how boats really perform in real world conditions that to take them out for a spin in real world conditions. It was the perfect capper to this year’s BOTY judging process.
The research sailing vessel, en route on its 13-month, 24,000 nautical-mile journey around the North and South American continents to raise awareness of climate change, recently paid a two-day visit at the port of Newport.
When Cruising World editor Mark Pillsbury and videographer Matt Jackson ran into Cap'n Fatty and Carolyn Goodlander at the Oakland Boat Show, it didn't take long to get this pair of sea gypsies talking. Luckily, Matt caught it all on film.
