I thought the funny part of the report was the "surprise" of the Anglican leaders. What cave have they been living in?

I'd prefer full communion as a way for the Vatican to honor Anglicans and Lutherans (liturgical) churches.

Diana Butler Bass New Beliefnet post today--on an evangelism "program" at Southwestern Baptist Seminary. As a follower of the Prince of Peace, this one shocked me.

Jimmy, I share your concern about the promotion of violence and certainly reject this militarization of the Gospel. My point was that the prime motivator behind this campaign likely arose from our society's pervasive immersion in advertising sloagneering and gimmickry, not from a deliberate desire to make evangelism sound like a military campaign. That probably came later as they developed the "marketing" campaign.

A wonderfully irenic piece. It's easy to forget in our own pursuits of justice and frustration at its impediment that we forget we are also to be peacemakers. Thank you for the reminder.

I commented on your article. Though my concerns about the health care reform bills are many, I am a big fan of yours. I disagree with you a lot, but appreciate your spirit in bringing ideas to the table.
And yes, there are many times I'm in agreement with you.

I like your comment that hope is a verb. Let us all help build hope by confronting hate, fear, and willful deceit.

D iana Butler Bass is probably not as much a household name in most Roman Catholic circles as she is in mainline Protestant ones. She was raised as a Methodist in Maryland and later found a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church. ...

When will we are troops leave the Middle East? Will the so-called peacemaking gang criticize him for our neverending presence in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc. Will Obama be like Lyndon Johnson--great domestic programs and an utter failure in foreign policy?
