After an accident left Liz with partial vision and short-term memory loss, her dad, Dirk Iglehart, MD, head of the Women's Cancers Program, was with her every step of the way. Today, they work in the same department at Dana-Farber.

Amanda Collins I am a writer for Dana-Farber looking into how patients use social networking technology during or after their treatment. With the scores of survivor/support groups on Facebook and Twitter, and the opportunity to blog or journal online, there's the chance to reach out to the world after a dianosis. Are patients using these tools? Please send me a message with your thoughts. Thanks!

Rhonda Strohofer McPherson I love you! And support you!

My mom died 30 years ago (breast cancer and complications). I have no doubts that, had she become ill in this century, she would have LIVED. When my stepfather passed away, I got, among other things, a personal letter that her doctor from Sidney-Farber wrote to us. When I showed it to my 19-year-old daughter, she said ...she was just blown away. "I have NEVER heard of a doctor doing that," she said. My 51-year-old husband said exactly the same thing. Having outlived my mother's life now by 6 years, I often feel like I'm on borrowed time. Sure wish I were living around Boston still!Read More
