David Shafer enjoyed visiting with Representative Earl Ehrhart today at the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association meeting. Earl is one of the great conservative leaders of the Georgia General Assembly.

Representative Earl Ehrhart is the Chairman of the Rules Committee of the Georgia House of Representatives, and represents House District 36, Powder Springs. Previously, Earl served for eight years as the Minority Whip in the House. He also previously served on the House Rules, Appropriations, Banks and Banking, and Et...hics Committees. Born in Miami, Florida, Earl has lived in Cobb County since 1964. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Political Science in 1980. While there, he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Representative Ehrhart resides in Powder Springs with his sons, Quentin and John. Earl was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1988, and is currently serving his first term as Chairman of the Rules Committee. He is a past Chairman for the Georgia Chapter of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a bi-partisan group of nationwide legislators. In July of 1999 he was elected Chairman of all the state chairmen in the nation, and has since been named to the ALEC National Board. Chairman Ehrhart is on the Business and Labor Task Force and is also a member of the National Republican Legislator Association. In 1990, the National Federation of Independent Business named him the Guardian of Small Business, due to his years of work for small businesses in Georgia. Earl also received the 1999 Champion of the Free Enterprise System Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia. He has also received awards from the Medical Association of Georgia, Kennesaw State University, the Twenty Second Air Force Reserve, and the Georgia Federation of Young Republicans. Chairman Ehrhart’s involvement with state legislation has received national media attention. He has been quoted in such papers as the New York Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Marietta Daily Journal, and a feature article was written in The Economist. Earl has also appeared on CNN, and is a frequent contributor on the Hannity and Colmes show on Fox News Channel. Chairman Ehrhart is actively involved in many local civic organizations. He and his family are members of the McEachern United Methodist Church. He is a member of the PTA, the Cobb County Youth Soccer Association, the Oregon Park Baseball Association and is a contributor to the Cobb County Performing Arts. He has also served on the Powder Springs Downtown Development Association which led to the formation of Powder Springs Square. He is a member of the West Cobb Rotary Club and the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce.

Agreed. That and tell them not to treat customers who go to the parts department like they are stupid. A Dodge dealer lost me as a customer for such a thing. I'm in the parts department trying to purchase a part for a reason; I know what I am talking about.

Tell him we can help many issues by helping the freight railroads build more capacity to get through freight off the roads and onto a more efficient means of transportation while also providing the means for intercity rail and commuter rail. We also need to support sending train locomotive fuel taxes towards this effort to build more rail capacity not road capacity. We also need help at the state house to reduce trucking subsidies so they compete fairly with the railroads.

thats a reason were in such a deficit: were spending so much money on prisons and executions. and then fine a LOT of money for a speeding ticket. maybe if we didnt do that so much the taxes wouldn't be so huge. although i say a democratic or liberetarian outlook is better than the alternative on most subjects.

David Shafer supports Representative Tom Rice. He does a great job representing Peachtree Corners in the Georgia General Assembly.

Chairman Tom Rice was first elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1996 and began serving in 1997. Representative Rice entered the legislature as his third career, having already worked as a marketing executive for IBM for 30 years and later being self employed. As an original native to the suburbs of Phila...delphia, the future legislator moved to Atlanta in 1984. He attended Temple University, where he was an accounting major and participated in several of the University’s sports programs. His personal claim to fame is having played on the school’s football team with famed actor and comedian Bill Cosby! Representative Rice was recently appointed Chairman of the Motor Vehicles Committee for the 2005-2006 Session of the Georgia Legislature. The Chairman has worked very hard authoring legislation that would make Georgia Driver’s License eligibility stricter, thereby improving road safety. He is also a member of the Rules, Ways and Means and State Institutions and Property Committees. Representative Rice and his wife are the proud parents of four children and nine grandchildren. Frances Rice is an interior decorator as well as a skilled porcelain artist. Both she and the Representative appear as guest speakers occasionally for the Christian Women’s Club. Aside from that, he is also a deacon at the Peachtree Corners Baptist Church, as well serving on the Advisory Boards of the Gwinnett Philharmonic and the Life South Community Blood Bank. He is the Head of the House Republican Policy Council and Captain of the Old Guard of the Gate City Guard, an Atlanta based military organization. The latter of the aforementioned can probably be most attributed to the 6 years that he spent as an Army Reservist. Aside from the already very full and busy life Representative Rice leads, he is also very interested in Civil War History and reading the biographies of historical figures.

I am so tired of the way the govt sees them, I will not accept it any longer it is time we let our officials know who are the greatest among us, our veterans and our current troops serving in harms way.. the politicians need to wake up and take care of these guys/gals... the press needs to report the truth and not hype!!
