Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat is one of around 80 independent Lifeboats set up around the UK. Based on the Isle of Wight they work alongside various other rescue services. Their volunteer crew are always ready to respond.

over a flooded river have found the body of a man in police uniform. RNLI lifeboat operations manager Captain Brian Ashbridge said there was
a "massive current" travelling down the Derwent, making conditions for
the searchers "very challenging".
