Digital Blasphemy I've posted a night version "Canopy Creek (Winter)" in my Pickle Jar. It should be easier to see your icons with this one...

Would love it if you could add the Motorola Droid to your list of mobile render sizes. It uses a VERY odd 960x854 resolution, and while it rotates orientation it keeps the wallpaper "horizontal" and recrops on the fly to fit its three virtual home screens (they slide pan across the wallpaper). Landscapes should look as good as abstracts if they aren't too busy. FWIW I'm a lifetime subscriber and ♥ your work!

I just came off the road from several hundred miles on my motorcycle so forgive my lack of observational skills....is there a diff between this one and the 1680 version, because it doesnt look different to me.....

My condolences on your Hawks. I have been waiting for this loss, in part because you cannot allow someone to toss 5 INTs and still win. Even I am not THAT good at poker.

True. I use my phone mostly portrait, BUT the wallpaper need to be wide enough to display correctly when I DO decide to turn it sideways... so the edges don't get cut off :(

Just wanted to say I love your work and subscribe every year. I really like what you're doing with your canopy creek series here.
Speaking of resolutions...I just got into the new verizon Droid. It has a resolution of 480x854 with 240 dpi. Any recommendations on size of images I should download? Whether it's on my 46in 1080p tv, or on my new phone, all I ever have on them is digitalblasphemy. It's by far the best.

Nathan, that's a 16:9 resolution so you can use the images that say "hdtv" next to them (the smallest is 1366 x 768). They will be landscape though. Are you wanting portrait orientation?

The picture is up without a blog post? Or has something gone wrong in my PC? :-)But BTT:I admire how many different aspects you can create out of one scenery! Well done, though personally I like the autumn version better.

Digital Blasphemy Zazzle is offering 40% off all posters and prints. Use coupon code "HISTORYPOST4" at checkout. I would be suprised if they did a 70% off sale again so this might be as good as it gets for a while.

Digital Blasphemy My new render is about halfway done and it's been going for 3 days now. I don't think the second half will take as long as the first though.

See if you can find a distributed computing group (on BOINC) that would be able to do it for you. I believe yoyo@home does misc projects.
However, you may have to first collaborate with or find someone who has made an application (which works within BOINC) that could process your data. I'm not sure on the specifics.

From my understanding clustering works better when there are multiple frames of a video that need to be rendered. I'm not sure if it would benefit as much to use distributed computing for a single frame render.

Try the PLE first and see if you like it Kristof. I would wait for the "enthusiast" versions. The pro versions are somewhat pricey.

Digital Blasphemy I noticed that Dreamscenes (animated wallpapers) were removed from Windows 7. I know that they can be added back through a hack, but I wonder what is the real interest level given that they are very resource intensive to create.

I never got around to Dreamscenes because I never stay on the same computer very long. Chris you say you use them in Linux. I am curious

I wish you would make more but I don't see the point for now since so few operating systems support them. I was disappointed to see that Mac OS X doesn't support animated wallpapers either. It seemed like they should.

Also, if you ever make them, you could charge special for them if you wanted, given their extra time to create and render. I don't think anyone would blame you for that. As a lifetime member I certainly wouldn't mind.
